ABOUT MEMBERSHIP
Church membership is a formal relationship between a local church and a Christian characterized by the church’s affirmation and oversight of a Christian’s discipleship and the Christian’s submission to living out his or her discipleship in the care of the church.
Requirements For Church Membership:
A Christian. Only someone who credibly professes faith in Christ can become a member at Travis.
Baptized. Only those who have publicly identified with Christ and his church by baptism can be allowed to publicly identify with His church.
Regular attendee. A church cannot oversee and affirm a person’s profession of faith if they do not regularly attend a small group and a worship service.
Willing to submit to the leadership of the church. If a person isn’t willing to follow the church’s leaders they will inevitably stir up division and strife. We encourage all people to join a church whose leaders they can follow.
Giving. After all, “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7). Part of being a part of the body of Christ means you are willing to sacrificially give back to God what He has given to you.
FIRST STEPS CLASS
If you are interested in learning more about Travis or what it means to join us in church membership, we would love to invite you to our First Steps class. In the First Steps Class, you will hear about Travis’ direction and vision, what to expect from us, and how we can support you in potential next steps such as membership, baptism, and serving in the local church.

Begin the Process of Becoming a Member
First Steps is a great way to learn more about membership at Travis, and we highly recommend attending. However, it’s not required to become a member. If you’ve been with us for a while and are ready to begin the pre-membership work, you can do so by completing the modules below.
Module 1: NEW MEMBER INFORMATION
This module will give us the information we need to get you and your family into our church membership directory through our app and physical copies. It will also provide information needed to add you to our church roll once membership becomes official.
Module 2: LET’S GET TO KNOW YOU
This module contains the Get to Know You Questionnaire. This Questionnaire allows us to understand your story, your beliefs, and your passions better in an effort to provide greater care for you.
Module 3: WHAT WE BELIEVE
In this module we desire that you would know what we believe as a church. You can complete this section one of two ways: by watching the 10 short videos on each of our doctrinal beliefs, or opting to read our statement of faith. However you decide to complete this section, you are only required to either certify that you watched in completion the 10 video modules, or read the document titled, Statement of Faith.
Upon completion of the above pre-membership work, an elder and his wife will reach out to discuss membership further, which will include a discussion of our church membership covenant. This covenant is the agreement by which all members align with, in joining the body of Travis Avenue. We desire that you would read over it and be familiar prior to the discussion and an elder will be in touch shortly.
