Scott Engle
Scott was born in Fort Worth and grew up in Arlington. He was raised by Christina parents who took him and his brother to church every Sunday at a church of another denomination. He heard about Jesus but didn’t understand God’s plan of salvation and didn’t like going to church. He eventually attended the confirmation classes to become a member of that church at about age 12. The summer before 9th grade, a school friend invited him to youth camp in Glen Rose. At that camp, he first understood that his salvation was not about his good behavior or being relatively more moral than others. He understood for the first time that it was by God’s grace through faith in Him that he could be saved, and it wasn’t any work he had done. He confessed his sins and asked Jesus to save him and be Lord of his life at that camp.
Scott attended Baylor University, where he met his wife Joyce, and graduated with a BA in Psychology and MBA. He has been in Commercial banking with several banks in Fort Worth for 36 years. He has been with Simmons Bank since October 2018 and is currently a Senior Vice President and Market Executive.
Scott and Joyce have been members of Travis for 35 years. They currently co-teach the Parents as Disciplers SMBS. He has been a deacon since 1990 and a Sanctuary choir member since 1989. He has served on numerous committees and is currently a finance committee member.
